Biography
How did Gateways prepare you for your future?
When I applied to Gateways, I knew next to nothing about the medical school application process. All I knew was that I wanted to be a doctor and I wanted to put together the strongest application before committing myself to applying. Gateways helped reaffirm that being a doctor was what I actually wanted to do. From the work I got to do with Brown University Health Primary Care for my capstone project, to the classes I got to take with first year medical students, every part of Gateways helped me see that I wanted to pursue medical school. They also walked me through the application process and made sure I knew how to approach every step, even after I graduated.
What advice do you have for current/future Gateways Master of Medical Sciences students?
I know the journey towards getting into medical school can be long, frustrating, and exhausting at times. Just remember that everyone in the administration in the Gateways program is rooting for your success and will be there for you every step of the way. Remember to work hard and constantly remind yourself that you're working towards this future because you'll be an amazing committed physician.
Any other comments?
I just wanted to thank the Gateways team for helping me get to where I am! I love medical school and truly feel that the Gateways program helped prepare me for the rigor and difficulty of the classes. I couldn't have achieved this without them. Go Cats!
