Biography
How did Gateways prepare you for your future?
Gateways introduced me to the content, pace, and study skills I would encounter and need in medical school so that I felt confident and prepared. After two gap years living as a “real adult”, this program truly was a gateway back into the life of a student with brilliant, helpful professors, thoughtful and clear lessons, and a fostering environment that made me excited about going back to school.
What advice do you have for the current/future students of Gateways?
Remember to enjoy the moment! You only have a year for the program, so make the most of your time with the professors, your friends, and the city of Providence. It goes by far too quick!
Any other comments?
As a first generation student, I constantly feel like I have absolutely no idea what I am doing. The staff at Gateways, whether they realized it or not, helped me feel like I belonged in medicine. Their confidence in me has held me up on my hard days, and I’ll forever be grateful.
