Biography
How did Gateways prepare you for your future?
Gateways completely changed the way I think about medicine. Through the PCCS courses, I was able to understand medicine and healthcare through a different lens, incorporating social determinants of health into the forefront of all patient encounters. Now, as a medical student working at a local pediatrician's office, I am excited about community health and epidemiology. The Gateways program cultivated my interests and empowered me to take the next step in my career.
What advice do you have for current/future Gateways Master of Medical Sciences students?
Trust the process and your mentors! The Gateways program does an incredible job preparing students for medical school admissions and matriculation. Listen to your peers and Gateways alumni and faculty and believe in yourself. Success may require you to wipe the slate clean and start anew, but don't be intimidated by the work!
Other comments?
I'm grateful for the opportunities Gateways gave me, both as a student, a teaching faculty member, and now a tutor and medical student at AMS.
