Biography
How did Gateways prepare you for your future?
- Gateways gave me the extraordinary opportunity to hone my learning skills in M1 curriculum and understand pathways to success for medical school. I also learned a lot about my own interests in medicine through experiences in local clinical, administrative, and volunteer medical settings which Gateways provided. Beyond the preparation I garnered for attending medical school, I better understood the landscape of the application process and career progression thanks to the help of incredible advisors.
What advice do you have for current/future Gateways Master of Medical Sciences students?
- The journey to medical school is deeply challenging, but you can do it. Engage in and utilize the vast resources you have available to you in the Gateways program! This includes: the community of Gateways students and alumni, the team of Gateways advisors and staff, and the connections that Brown University can provide, such as unique guest speakers, learning coaches, medical electives, and local healthcare professionals.
Any other comments?
- If you are looking for a program that will support you and cares, this is it. You will have to push yourself, but you will grow as a student, future provider, and human.
