Biography
How did Gateways prepare you for your future?
Gateways helped me to strengthen my foundation in the sciences, make lifelong friends, reaffirmed my desire to attend medical school, and most importantly, helped build my self-confidence when it comes to academics.
What advice do you have for current/future Gateways Master of Medical Sciences students?
If medicine is truly what you want to pursue, don’t give up just because you think you’re not a competitive applicant. Improve on your weaknesses and utilize your strengths. Don’t let anyone or anything tell you that you can’t do it. The second you start believing them is the second you let yourself down.
Any other comments?
Gateways is a rigorous program and it’ll definitely be one of the most challenging years of your academic career. But it was also one of the best years of my life. The people I met there and the skills that I gained from the program made the early mornings and long nights worth it. I can honestly say that the program prepares you well for the M1 curriculum. Good luck!
