Biography
How did Gateways prepare you for your future?
The Gateways program prepared me to face the challenges of medical school with confidence. While the coursework was rigorous, the consistent support from advisors, classmates, and mentors helped me develop effective study strategies that I’ve continued to use throughout my first two years of medical school. Time in the anatomy lab was a particular highlight, as was the opportunity to gain early clinical experience with community physicians. The advisors were genuinely invested in our success, and their guidance throughout the application process was invaluable.
What advice do you have for current/future Gateways Master of Medical Sciences students?
Never give up - the path to becoming a physician may feel impossible at times, but Gateways will prepare you well for the journey. If you work hard and trust the process, everything will fall into place. Be sure to build connections with the faculty and advisors at Brown, they are there to help you and are an incredible resource both during and after the program.
Any other comments?
Don’t forget to explore Rhode Island! It’s easy to get caught up in studying, but making time to visit the beach in Narragansett or grab some Italian food on Federal Hill is well worth your time.
