How did Gateways prepare you for your future? 

Gateways taught me that a career in medicine was so much more than understanding scientific pathways, anatomy, and physiology. I learned a lot about social determinants of health, the Providence community, and equity in medicine--all essential facets of providing effective healthcare. Gateways helped me understand the scope of a career in medicine and gave me confidence that I was ready for this next step in my career!

What advice do you have for current/future Gateways Master of Medical Sciences students?

Use this year to build strong study habits, foundational knowledge, and follow the advice of your mentors. Don't underestimate the amount of studying you will need to do to keep up, but also don't underestimate the value of taking care of yourself!

The faculty and alumni are not only incredibly knowledgeable but also deeply invested in the success of their students, providing unwavering support and mentorship. I am so grateful for the opportunities and preparation I received from the Gateways program!
